Question by katy: What scholarships are available now for me? 2010 HS senior in the fall?
I’m going to be a high school senior in the fall. I’m going to need scholarship money when I go off to college. I have been told to start applying for scholarships now so that I can get ahead of my game and get as much money as I can. However, I can’t seem to find many offered scholarships. All I’ve found is the Coca-Cola scholarship, which I’m planning on applying for.

Anyone know of any others?? =]

There are lots of scholarships out there, but I can’t tell you which ones you can apply for because it really depends on you and what you’re willing to do. Most scholarships require you to write an essay and have a GPA of at least a 2.5, often higher. There are lots of websites that offer scholarship listings and your local library should also offer a couple of reference books that you could look through.
Also, you should speak with your guidance counselor if you haven’t already because they’ll sometimes know about local scholarships you might not be able to find anywhere else.
If you’ve already been accepted into a college then you should also go ahead and speak with their financial aid office, since schools often have grants and scholarships for their students.
