technically, no, there isnt, but still when someone sees West Point on a resume they will consider that person different than ROTC grad. sometimes all the westpointer/air force academy officer has to to is wear his graduation ring, its like a club. just remember, the army is very social and clique whether we want to believe it or not. promotions are about who you know, not hard work like it used to be. but, your alot better off than an enlisted guy. so good luck to you.
What do you think? Answer below!

Just be sure your graduation date is before West Point’s, it gives you some seniority benefits.

theterracedbay pretty much hit the nail on the head. Although you will most likely be promoted slightly higher on the promotion lists than grads of the Hudson School for Boys…until you make BG then the WPPA (West Point Protective Association) takes over. (Approximately 75% of BGs were commissioned through ROTC where about the same percentage of LTGs and GENs are West Pointers.)
Mary is slightly mistaken…all 2LTs TECHNICALL are given the same date of rank, so graduation date doesn’t matter. That changed about 15 yrs ago. The reason was the most officers felt that West Pointers had an unfair advantage by being senior since most colleges graduate after Hudson High.

I am an Army officer that was commissioned through ROTC. It has not hurt nor helped my career. I feel that everyone has made an assessment on my performance not on what school I attended. I have met both great and horrible West Pointer, ROTC cadets, and OCS grads. I think there is very little difference at least through my present rank (captain). This may change as I progress or perhaps the differences are a thing of the past.

ROTC is a joke they are why the military is so screwed up be a nco first get some time with the real men and then decide if being a commisioned officer is what you want to do.
