The following awards and scholarships are general. They can be used for most majors and career fields and a variety of high school students are eligible to apply for them.

Golden Apple Scholarships programs 2011-2012

The Golden Apple Scholars of Illinois is a scholarship program for students who want to be school teachers. Founded in 1985, the Golden Apple organization was established to honor Chicago-area teachers for their work in the classroom. Since then, the organization has grown, continuing to honor outstanding teachers and also to prepare future teacher and strengthen current teachers. As of 2010, more than 1,100 Golden Apple Scholars were either attending college or had already graduated and were teaching in Illinois classrooms.

    Eligibility

  1. Illinois high school students who are interested in a teaching career are eligible to apply for the Golden Apples Scholars program. Students can apply for the scholarship beginning in May of their junior year and continuing through November of their senior year.
